For the past three days, the East Coast has been handling effects of a major snow storm which dropped 29.2 inches in Baltimore, making it the largest snowfall in Baltimore's history. The snow storm which has been nicknamed "Snowzilla" was actually a low pressure system from the West Coast that moved cross country by way of the jet stream, gathered more moisture while dipping towards the Gulf and formed a massive winter storm along to East Coast. 10 states were affected.

We've been trying to keep our spirits up and our hopes high, ever since the passing of my paternal grandfather. He passed away in North Carolina and will be buried in New Jersey next Wednesday. My father and mother are handing a lot of the funeral arrangements. I've been trying to help but I don't much about the procedure.

Rex and I are still searching for jobs in the meantime. We haven't heard anything back yet and with this Nor'Easter that came last night, many places are closed. Rex said Baltimore got about 4 inches, here in Moorestown, we got about 6. This storm reminded me a lot of winters in New Jersey. I went out early to help my father brush the snow off the cars and dig a path for the cars to get out. May was happy to see the snow once again. This time she was much more bundled up. The high for today was 17 degrees. Now that's cold!

Here's a few pictures we took in the snow:

    Before heading outside.

     In the snow.

I can really notice May's personality shining through the more I am here with her. Though I need to find a job to keep up with the finances, I am happy to spend this time with my daughter and see her grow. She is still talking and now she's saying words like "Hi" and "cat." She loves watching Nick Jr. and Dora The Explorer. We still watch Tinkerbell too. May is still a little apprehensive in walking by herself but we know in the next few months she'll be walking. She keeps my parents smiling, especially my father during this difficult time.

For Rex and I we try to have FaceTime chats every other day. He's going to be coming up by Greyhound to stay with us for a few days, which I'm so happy about. I know May will be happy too. Hopefully we can both find something either here or there, so we can work towards getting a place to live together again. It'll take time though and we know we must be patient. Good things come to those who wait :-)

This is just a quick entry. We got another round of winter weather here in Laurel. Keep in mind winter isn't until the 21st. I'm not complaining though. The snow is nice to see and though it can be a hassle driving in. The covered branches and grass, often look very beautiful. Rex and I both had off today. Many schools around us were closed. Even the middle school I work at was closed today.
In total I'd say we got 3 and a half inches. By the afternoon though the sun had come out and the snow was pretty much gone. We did take May outside though, while it was lightly snowing and she walked a little bit in the snow holding onto our hands. Here's a picture of our little star. Can't wait to play more with her in the snow when she gets older :-)

Yesterday was May's first time in the snow! The snowstorm passed through yesterday dumping a little over two inches here in Laurel. Other parts of Maryland got over five inches. When the snow first started around 10 am, I opened up the blinds so May could see. She looked interested for a few minutes. She pointed at the window and said "call." I waited until there was more snow on the ground and around 2 pm, I dressed May up in her warm jacket, boots, pants and hat. May and I went out in the backyard and she looked at all the snow on the ground. She put out her hand to collect some of the snow as well. We didn't stay out for too long. It was really cold outside. Rex didn't get back from Baltimore until much later that day. He left before the storm to meet a friend who is helping us with our apartment situation. As the storm got worse he got stuck in Baltimore with his friend. I kept in contact with him throughout the storm and was happy to know that he was safe where he was and also that he got home safe.

In four more days we'll be celebrating May's birthday. Actually yesterday, one year ago was my original due date. May was still snug inside the womb then. It's amazing how fast she's growing and she's developing her personality every day. Here's Miss Little One.

January 9th is my birthday. Capricorns unite! Hehe.

I turned 25 this year. I'm very blessed and I thank HIM for 25 years of life and look forward to many more, especially with Rex and the new adventures we'll experience.

This year January 9th was also the first snowfall of 2012 for the DC metro area. The storm was not very well forecasted, due to a disagreement in the computer models and many saying that there wasn't enough cold air or moisture present for snow. When the snow did start to fall, the non-accumulating thoughts turned into an accumulation of up to 2" in some areas.  In Adelphi/Tacoma Park, we received about 0.5".  It was pretty coming down and the snow nicely covered the grass. It covered the cars slightly as well. The streets were slick in some areas, however.

Rex took me out for my birthday that night and we went to Longhorn Steak house.  We went out with a few friends as well. It was a wonderful birthday and a nice treat with the little bit of snow. It was nothing compared to the Blizzard of '96. Remember that? It's been a pretty snow-less winter so far in many parts of the United States.

Here are a few pictures from yesterday:

The beautiful birthday cake. It got a little damaged.

     Cutting the cake.

Thank you so much for braving the weather baby for a wonderful birthday celebration. You mean so much to me and thank you to everyone else who made it out. It means a lot. Gotta love having a winter b-day ;-)
